About Maintenance & Operations


Union County Schools Maintenance & Operations Department is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of 9 schools, including 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 high school, 2 alternative schools as well as central office, information technology, pre-k, gap, adult education, and professional development buildings  totaling approximately 500,000 square feet on over 190 acres of land.



The oldest school buildings in Union County are over 70 years old while the newest is Paulette Elementary which was built in 2011. 

 


The major tasks of the department include:


  • Budgeting, Public Quotes and Bids, Approval of Payables

  • Capital Project Planning, Implementation, Supervision

  • Cleaning of Facilities

  • Cleaning Equipment Repair and Maintenance

  • Custodial Supply Procurement and Delivery

  • Electrical Repair and Maintenance

  • Elevator Service

  • Energy Management

  • Environmental Services (Air Quality, Asbestos, Pest Control)

  • Fire Safety and Suppression Systems

  • Food Service Equipment

  • HVAC Repair and Maintenance

  • Lawn Care Services

  • Locksmith Services

  • Roof Repair and Maintenance

  • Storage and moving of equipment

  • Surplus Management

  • Utilities

  • Waste Management Services

 

Union County School properties shall be maintained in good physical condition; safe, clean, sanitary, and as sanitary and as comfortable and convenient as the facilities will permit or the use requires (code 3.200).
