Notice of Intent to Apply for Federal Funds

2010-2011

The Office of Federal Programs of the Union County Public School System is in the process of completing the Consolidated Application to apply for federal funding in the following areas:

  • Title I-A - Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged
  • Title II-A - Teacher Quality
  • Title II-D - Enhancing Education through Technology
  • Title III - ESL Services
  • Title IV-A - Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program
  • Title VI-B - Subpart 2—Rural and Low-Income School Program

This application is being developed through timely and meaningful consultation with State and local representatives, public and private schools to be served, including teachers and other staff, parents, students, community-based organizations and others with relevant and demonstrated expertise in drug and violence prevention activities (such as medical, dental, and law enforcement) including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Family/Parent Involvement Committees
  • System-wide Federal Programs Planning Committee
  • Advisory Committees in the county’s four schools designated as Title I School-wide Projects (Maynardville Elementary, Luttrell Elementary, Sharps Chapel Elementary, Big Ridge Elementary, Horace Maynard Middle and Union County High).
  • The Tennessee Consolidated System-wide Planning Process
  • Surveys conducted throughout the school year

Feedback from these committee meetings and surveys are used to evaluate the effectiveness of Federal Programs in the Union County Public Schools and are used to refine, improve, and strengthen the program.

The 2011 Consolidated Application is due to be turned in to the State Department of Education on June 1, 2010. Anyone wishing to offer suggestions or express questions/concerns concerning Federal Programs may contact:
