INCLIMATE WEATHER
In the event of inclimate weather, icy roads etc, the primary focus of the Union County School System is student safety.
It is very important that parents maintain good contact information.
In the event of early school dismissal the goal will always be student safety. The school will make every effort to contact the parents to pick up their children if the students are car riders. No student will ever be left alone, a faculty or staff member will stay with the students at all times. There is no time limit to this, again the primary goal is safety.
We ask all parents to understand the unique situation we find ourselves in as East Tennessee residents. Often the weather can change fast and catch us in a situation that requires closing early. It is often the case that school is closed and the roads don't get entirely bad before regular dismissal time. However, due to the severe elevation changes in our county we know that Northern Union County can have several inches of snow and Southern Union County can have none. We hope everyone will remember that our High School serves all of Union County with only a two lane bridge crossing a lake. This may force a closing or early dismissal county wide because of an area with road conditions unfamiliar to many of us. The hills, mountains and valleys together with the small roads form a situation hazardous to a large bus on a slippery road.
MAKE-UP PROCEDURES OF INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS CANCELED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
