Health Science Education

Health Science Education provides students in grades K-12 a knowledge of health careers. The program in Tennessee focuses on grades 9-12 and emphasizes a major in health science education. It is designed to help students who complete their major continue their study in postsecondary education. The goals for Health Science Education are as follows:

  1. Provide students with an adequate knowledge of health care careers and supply competent, trained workers into the workplace or a pathway that leads to entrance into a one-, two- or four-year program at a college or university.
  2. Recognize health care needs and provide students with updated information on new and innovative technology in health care.
  3. Support a cooperative effort between high school and postsecondary education for allied health and nursing programs.
  4. Collaborate with the health care industry to update and change knowledge and skills for all students enrolled in Health Science Education.
