GRADES K - 5

Bottom Wear:

Short pants and mini-skirts may be permitted as long as they are no shorter than four inches above the kneecap.  Bottom wear must be size appropriate for the wearer with no sagging or bagging, and must be worn securely at and around the waist as not to reveal undergarments and prevent pant legs from touching the floor. Large bell-bottoms which expose less than one fourth of the top of the foot, spandex or leggings shall not be allowed.  The ability of the child to play comfortably without revealing undergarments shall be determining factor for gauging the appropriateness of length.  Purposely frayed clothing is not permitted in any level.

Dresses:                  

Girls may wear dresses appropriately sized for the wearer. Necklines must not expose cleavage.  Dresses no shorter than four inches above the kneecap.

Top Wear:

Tank tops or mesh shirts may not be worn as outer    garments.  A student will not dress, groom, or wear or use emblems, insignias, badges, or other symbols where the effect thereof is to distract unreasonably the attention of other students, or otherwise to cause disruption  or interference with the operation of the school.  Necklines must not expose any cleavage.

Accessories:

Any accessory that is studded, spiked, contains chains or      tabs, or in any way presents a potential danger or harm to self or others is prohibited.  Tattoos whether permanent or temporary will be covered.  Visible body piercing jewelry (except of the ears) is prohibited.  Hair is not to be sprayed or dyed in unnatural colors. 

Head Gear:

No headgear or sunglasses will be worn in the building (except those worn for obvious medical reasons and results therefore).  No caps, hats, scarves, bandanas, sweat bands, or toboggans allowed to be worn inside of buildings.

Foot Wear:

Shoes must be worn at all times. 

Coats:

Coats, heavy jackets or raincoats may be worn open in school buildings, but may be subject to search by principal or faculty.

GRADES 6 - 12

Bottom Wear:

Skirts, shorts, or skirts must be no shorter in length than (3) inches above the knee, slits must be no higher than (3) inches above the knee.  Anything that is considered distracting will be left to the discretion of the principal or his/her designee.

Top Wear:

Shirts must be size appropriate for the wearer having sleeves which cover the Deltoid muscle.  Shirt length must be size appropriate and not to go longer than past the hip joint.  Bare midriffs or necklines low enough to expose cleavage shall not be allowed.  Size appropriate fleece pullovers; jackets; long sleeve crewneck; v-neck; or cardigan sweater vests, or sweatshirts may be worn over an approved shirt.

Dresses:

Girls may wear dresses appropriately sized for the wearer with the length no shorter than (3) inches above the knee.  Slits must be no higher than (3) inches above the knee. Necklines must not expose any cleavage.  

Coats:

Coats, heavy jackets or raincoats may be worn open in school buildings, but may be subject to search by principal or faculty.

Other:

Tattoos whether permanent or temporary will be covered. Any exception will be at the discretion of the principal. Visible body piercing jewelry (except for the ears) is prohibited.  Hair is not to be sprayed or dyed in unnatural colors (such as blue, pink, green, etc.)

Special Days:

Schools may develop special dress days for special occasions at the direction of the school principal.

Common Policy

 

Clothing will be appropriate to the season and should be neat, clean, inoffensive, and decent.  Obscene or profane language; lewd pictures; symbols of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, drugs, or drug paraphernalia on clothing; clothing which allows undergarments to be visible when the student is sitting or walking.  Clothing shall be size appropriate.

Any article of clothing (accessories) that are considered distracting or inappropriate will be left to the discretion of the school principal or his/her designee, and he/she shall take appropriate action.

Schools may develop special dress days for special occasions at the direction of the school principal.

Any student not attired in accordance with the foregoing policy shall be subject to disciplinary consequences as per board policy.  In addition to the foregoing when a student is attired in a manner that is likely to cause disruption or interference with the operation of the school, the principal shall take appropriate action.

Any student not attired in accordance with the foregoing policy shall be subject to disciplinary consequences as per board policy.  Any article of clothing (accessories) that is considered distracting or inappropriate will be left to the discretion of the school principal, and the principal shall take appropriate action.

Regardless of grade level, students must abide by the dress code of the building.  (Example: when traveling to other schools).
