Dear Students and Parents: Welcome to the Luttrell Elementary School web site. This site will help familiarize you with the school and our programs. Luttrell Elementary is home to approximately 350 K-fifth grade students. We have three classrooms of students per grade level with the exceptions of K which has four and first grade, which has a transition class. LES is accredited by the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS). We have been the recipient of the Reading Excellence Act (REA) Grant for the 2002-2003 and the 2003-2004 school years and the Launch 2 Technology Grant for the 2004-2005 school year. The REA grant focused on improving reading skills of the students in grades K-3. Our current Tech grant has been used to purchase and update computer equipment, train teachers and enhance student use of technology. Mr. Randy Arnwine is serving as our Technology Coach. Our school is the pilot school for a reading program used with great results in Knox County Schools. The Children Achieve Reading Excellence (CARE) program at LES is being used in grades K-2. Mrs. Tracy Mink is the Reading Coach. I hope you enjoy this site and use it often. If I can be of assistance to you, please contact me either by email, phone or visiting the school. Sincerely, Sonja M. Saylor Principal
